NEIGHBOURHOOD CIRCLE PILOT PROJECT For the past several months South Vancouver Neighbourhood House has been facilitating the Neighbourhood Circle Pilot Project, a unique anti-racism initiative which was neighbourhood based and youth led. Twenty trained youth from the community engaged a broad cross-section of the population of South Vancouver in cross-cultural and intergenerational dialogues on community inclusion and racism. Sessions were followed by a youth led one day anti-racism symposium as well as workshops in the community. This project was funded by the BC Anti-Racism & Multiculturalism Program (BCAMP). | Recently South Vancouver Neighbourhood House participated in a research project funded by the Union of BC Municipalities and the United Way of the Lower Mainland documenting three Vancouver-based neighbourhood house approaches to working with seniors. This report identifies a unique neighbourhood-based approach to seniors' programs centred around supporting seniors and engaging their strengths for community development. |
